Nine organisations in seven countries say Age Demands Action
We had a successful Age Demands Action planning meeting last week and are excited to say that we have nine organisations taking part in seven countries across Latin America this year!
Training bus drivers
A special welcome to Argentina who will be involved in the campaign for the first time. Activists there are planning to march to the Mayor's office to campaign for more age friendly cities. They will call for public bus drivers to be trained to treat older people on public transport with more respect.
Age Demands Action messages in banks
We are broadcasting messages about the importance of combating age discrimination on monitors in branches of banks in Bolivia and Peru. When people go to the bank they must wait their turn so they will have the time to listen to and view our message without zapping! They are a captive audience and we will reach them for free!
Giving people in remote rural regions a voice
Our partner in Paraguay will be going into remote, rural regions to talk to older people and to give them the opportunity to meet decision makers. We are delighted that older people in these areas, who otherwise would not have a chance to speak up for themselves, are being given this chance to talk to their government about the support they need.
More updates are coming in from Latin America all the time so come back soon to hear more about older people's plans and to hear first hand from the campaigners themselves.
